Join Delaware Bio for our first BioBreakfast of 2018 on Friday, January 12th at the NEW Incyte Corporate Headquarters in Wilmington for a spotlight on Epigenetics & Bioinformatics; an interdisciplinary field that develops methods and software tools for understanding biological data. Engage with and learn from member companies GenPro, Nemours, and UD BioInformatics; who are collaborating to make breakthroughs in bioinformatics research, ultimately treating diseases, finding cures, and saving lives not only in the First State but across the world!

Erin Crowgey PhD
Associate Director of BioInformatics at Nemours
Dr. Crowgey has unique expertise in identifying genetic variation captured from regions of interest in DNA samples. To do this, she develops software scripts (sometimes referred to as pipelines) that sift through enormous amounts of data with the goal of identifying genetic alterations that are linked to a specific disease. Repertoire to include genome sequencing in study of cancer, sickle cell, cerebral palsy, and kidney disease

Nemours is an internationally recognized children’s health system that owns and operates the Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Del., and Nemours Children’s Hospital in Orlando, along with major pediatric specialty clinics in Delaware, Florida, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

The Center for Bioinformatics & Computational Biology (CBCB) is an interdisciplinary, cross-campus and inter-institutional initiative for the Delaware research and education community, and is built on the Bioinformatics core at the Delaware Biotechnology Institute (DBI) and the bioinformatics infrastructure of the Protein Information Resource (PIR).4
