Delaware BioScience Association Honors Leaders in the First State
NEWARK, Del.--The Delaware BioScience Association (Delaware Bio) will host its 2015 Annual Awards Gala on April 22 at the DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, DE. Over 300 leaders from industry, academia, government, medical research institutions, and guests will gather to honor exemplary individuals and organizations for their contributions to Delaware's bioscience community.
The 2015 award honorees are:
Company of the Year Award: Incyte Corporation - Hervé Hoppenot, President and CEO
Government Official Awards: The Honorable Joseph E. Miro, State Representative and the Honorable Nicole Poore, State Senator
Service Award: Nicholas Petrelli, M.D., Bank of America Endowed Medical Director, Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute of Christiana Care Health System
Innovation Award: Richard Birkmeyer, Ph.D., President and CEO of CD Diagnostics
Academic Research Award: Vicky Funanage, Ph.D, Operational Vice President, Research of Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children
Educator of the Year (Higher Education Award): Harold B. White, III, Ph.D, Professor of Biochemistry and Director, Howard Hughes Medical Institute’s Undergraduate Science Education Program of University of Delaware
Educator of the Year (K-12 Award): Lisa Tice, Biology Teacher of Smyrna High School
“As the largest annual gathering of Delaware’s bioscience community, our Awards Gala is a special evening dedicated to recognizing bioscience achievements and contributions in the First State. In 2015, Delaware Bio is excited to celebrate more award honorees than ever before – 7 individuals and one company, Incyte Corporation,” said Delaware Bio President, Bob Dayton.
